Lakme Fashion Week

One of my dreams is to be able to attend Lakme Fashion Week. New York Fashion week would be great and all, but I'm a sucker for mixing east and west when it comes to clothing. These Indian designers really are amazing. I would love the chance to see some of these shows - and to attend the parties that follow =)

I remember telling my dad about this last year while watching a recap of the show on tv, and he was actually sad that I wanted to go so bad and didn't. This is the same man who, while sitting in California, miraculously arranged for me to meet Salman, with whom I was enamored at the age of 15, in Bombay. I hate Salman now, but that was definitely one of the highlights of my life.

Seriously, every time this show happens and I read the articles about it, I get sad that I missed yet another chance to go. Not that I could go - I think you have to be invited. Not sure if they'll let IndianWeddingSite.com press come see the show and do a write-up =) But hey, it's worth a shot. Hmm, I should look into this.

I love Manish Malhotra, as does everyone in Bollywood. He even designed the lounge, Earth, in new york city. The place is gorgeous. Ashish Soni is also great.

What sucks is that even if I wanted to buy their clothes, I wouldn't be able to. I wish these Indian designers were still doing things at Indian prices =) Unfortunately they think they're the next Versace so completely out of my budget.

They even had their own Janet Jackson-ish wardrobe malfunctions at the event. To the left you'll see a falling halter top, and I believe there was one other top incident. Then, of course, there was a skirt that completely split from the back, exposing a model booty.

Oh how I hope to be at the next show! (Ok, not because of the model booty, though I see how it could sound that way)

Ok, just for the record, I would never buy any of the pieces I posted. I was just too lazy to find pictures of items I liked =) Haha, if you're trying to make me feel better about living out here .. FORGET ABOUT IT! ;-)
