OC Review

So I had a quick weekend vacation in SoCal with the hubby. Friday evening we drove around Orange County - Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Fashion Island, etc. I was disappointed! There was no life anywhere we went .. it was almost depressing. If I was looking for a lay out on the beach and do nothing getaway, it would have been fine. But I wanted to see new things. Anyways, I was disappointed when we went to Fashion Island and realized it wasn't cute shops on an island, but instead a mega-mall. Seriously, that was so sad.

Saturday morning we decided we were done with the OC and drove to LA. I had never been to Venice Beach so we went there. I loved it! So many people, so many cute vendors, so many street performers! I got the same vibe as South Beach. The beach was also really nice. Loved it. Then we went to Santa Monica - the promenade. I've been there before but still love the walk and the performers there. Went to Beverly Hills at night and I refused to window shop because I can't stand seeing things I can't afford. So we just had dinner and called it a night.

Sunday was our last day and we just wandered from city to city. I had to try Fatburger because some idiot told me it was better than In & Out. Um, NO!!! I was so completely disappointed - even more disappointed than the Fashion Island fiasco. I mean, the burger was good and fresh, but we could have made it at home. There was nothing unique about it. And the price!!! We paid $17 for our two meals. That's insane for a burger joint! So now I have to go yell at the person who told me about it because for the first time I went back to cali and didn't have a good in n out burger.

We went to a couple places in Irvine and then headed over to Long Beach. We figured we would kill some time there before our flight and drove around to check out the beach. Oh my god. I LOVE Long Beach. Why have I never been there before? The beach was gorgeous as well as the park by it. There were so many people out and the houses by the water were so cute. Then we discovered 2nd street (or avenue?) and it was exactly what we had been craving all weekend. A street of cute little shops and restaurants (minus the Gap that didn't fit in). Went shopping, ate dinner and then got on our redeye at the ghetto airport that is Long Beach. I swear the airport in Tahiti seems huge after this one!

Ok that was my extended review, more for my pleasure than yours I'm sure =)
